It will be a great pleasure for us to welcome you to the International Association for Management of Technology 4th European Conference on Management of Technology, to be held on 6th-8th September, 2009 in Glasgow, Scotland, which promises not only to be a conference but also an Event. Firstly, the theme of the conference – Innovation Management: Theory and Practice – brings together academic approaches and practitioners’ views on innovation management to stimulate the exchange of ideas and experiences. This is particularly relevant on the second day where the format will encourage the debate about innovation management. Furthermore, the theme proves to be of high relevance to the Scottish economy and the (national) institutions as expressed in their letters of support. The innovation gap has a high priority on the agenda of the Scottish government and the initiative for the conference aligns with national programmes and offers an additional dimension, particularly the Scottish Innovation Award. In addition, the conference aims to provide a forum for companies and academic institutions, inspiring participants to increase the innovative capabilities of companies and to provide fertile ground for collaboration for all involved. Finally, the location of the conference, Glasgow, offers the participants an exciting and relaxing atmosphere for debates, discussion, collaboration and the opportunity to savour the hospitality and warm welcome that Glasgow will provide during their stay. The programme of the conference embodies essential elements of Scottish hospitality and tourist attractions and there will be possibilities for delegates and partners to enjoy Scotland.
This conference, hosted by the University of the West of Scotland (recently awarded the highest qualification in Business and Management, during the RAE 2008), co-chaired by Arthur D. Little and the International Association on Management of Technology, co-hosted by Scottish Enterprise Renfrewshire, the Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce and the Centre for Engineering Education and Development, with additional support from the Advanced Institute of Management Research, Scottish Enterprise (national), and the Glasgow City Marketing Bureau.
This is an event not to be missed. Please join us and enjoy the Scottish experience that we aim to provide. We are looking forward to meeting you in Scotland in September 2009.
